Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. "I Have a Dream Speech" |
| Date: Tuesday July 15th, 2008 |
| Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. gave his "I Have a Dream" speech on August 28, 1963. In this speech, he spoke of his wish that black and white people could become equal and live together without conflicts. In the speech, he quoted Amos 5:4 "But let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream." He also quoted Isaiah 40:4 "Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill be made low" when he stated that "every valley shall be exalted." I feel that Dr. King is saying that even though times can be tough, there is always hope that the "dark valleys" can be conquered, and "the glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together." These words still hold true today, forty-five years later. |
